Laser Radial Mast Section

I have an older boat with a old full-rig sail. I am about 5'10 and weigh 140 pounds. I like to sail in big blows but it in 25+ it is just too much. I was thinking on buying a radial to sail on the windier days and was wondering if I would need to change any mast sections or if a normal mast would be fine? I don't race my laser, only 29er so there is no worries about what is or is not class legal.

The Radial lower mast section is shorter and has different bend characteristics, designed for that sail. So you need a Radial lower section, and this guy is selling a used sail, just below your post...

Alright, i'm not looking to pay that much for a sail. And how much is a mast section? Are they absulutely necessary for fun sailing?

Since you don't care about staying class legal, intensitysails (.com) has the Radial lower section for $145 and a radial sail for $199
