Hello Laser, Laser Radial Masters Racers and Friends:
The Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) Midwinter Regatta is rapidly approaching over the President's Day Holiday weekend of February 18 & 19 : http://midwinters.scyaweb.org/2012mwr/

Laser Masters will be hosted by Alamitos Bay Yacht Club (ABYC): http://www.abyc.org/event.cfm?id=585 . Masters are racers 35 years and older. Masters Handicap scoring will be used and rig-swapping (full-rig to Radial & vice versa) will be allowed. This weekend will be a good tune-up for the Manning Regatta March 3-4 and Laser Midwinters West March 23-25, both at ABYC. So all you 35 and older Laser and Radial racers, we hope to see you at ABYC!
All racers and guests arriving on Friday the 17th are invited to join the ABYC Membership for cocktail hour and a tasty, reasonably priced buffet dinner in the clubhouse. Cocktail hour precedes dinner which will begin at 6:30PM. After dinner, there will be a brief membership meeting followed by an interesting presentation by a Tug Boat Captain with FOSS Maritime who will give us a presentation about how FOSS interacts with recreational boaters and handles the ship traffic to and from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles...very interesting!
For hungry racers and others, there will be a Chili Cook-off in the ABYC Clubhouse following racing on Saturday the 18th and all are welcome!
This same weekend, Laser racing will also take place at; Arizona Yacht Club, Westlake Yacht Club, Balboa Yacht Club and Mission Bay Yacht Club.
