Keel plate question

I have an older Sunfish (pre-1972) that I have been working on. My question is, how do I attach the keel plate to the boat itself. There is a hole for a screw or otherwise to attach the keel plate to the boat. I have read a previous post dealing with this and if I am reading correctly there is a screw that attaches the keel plate to the boat and you are supposed to use epoxy glue to attach the screw to the boat. Shouldn't the screw be attached to a nut or piece of wood or something more secure rather than just glue?

Thanks for any help

There is a block of wood inside the hull into which the screw for the keel plate goes.
If the wood is not rotten the screw will hold and the plate acts a little like a spring to release the rudder if you hit something.
Recheck the previous discussions on this subject. I don't think it was stated that you should epoxy the plate.
