I don't want to install a traditional knotmeter. Since I'm weekend sailing on a lake, I certainly don't need a chart plotter. Is there a simple GPS based gizmo that will tell me how fast I'm going?

If you have a smartphone, there's a ton of apps out there than make a speed puck obsolete, and they're free.

Make sure to buy one of those waterproof cases to go with the phone, of course (c:
