Hikers wearing out prematurely

So I sailed say 10-15 weeknights + about 4 weekend regattas and I'm wearing through my hikers right on the two points where my pelvis bones sit on the deck when sitting downwind or when sailing upwind in light air (non-hiking conditions)

Now, I'm guessing most folks are *not* replacing their hikers every year.

Suggestions?

How much do you up-size them? 1 size (e.g. medium to large; large to XL; etc...) or 2 sizes (e.g medium to XL; large to XXL; etc...)

sizing isnt too hard since lycra has alot of stretch to it. im geusing you could jus get whatever the same size as your hikers are and it should be able to work.

try a pair of oversized board shorts or heavy weight nylon workout shorts. anything to absorb the abrasion that will eat away at the soft hikers. board shorts are well suited cause they dry fast and are of good length.

I used to have the same problem, just take a pair of whatever shorts you would wear to the gym or to go jogging and wear those over them. UnderArmor, nike etc. My hikers have not seen further wear since I started wearing the shorts over them
