Gudgeon plate mounting location

I am converting an old sunfish to the newer rudder hardware. Is there a recommended position of the gudgeon plate? Should I just assure it's centered (top to bottom) on the stern bulkhead? Is there a critical clearance or measurement that must be made to assure proper operation of the rudder? Obviously, I do not want the tiller to scrape on the deck or have any other misallignment / interference.

I searched the archives and found nothing on this subject.

Thanks for the help, Chris

Nobody had any advice as to where to locate the gudgeon? Oh well, I'll just line it up by eye.... I'll let you know how that works.

Not official, but I can see my bracket is closer to the deck lip than centered and the leading edge break of the rudder where it begins to angle back is aligned with the bottom of the hull. Just observations, it's factory. Hope it helps.
