Notice of Race and Conditions

General Information and Eligibility Rules

Rules: The conduct of these races will be governed by the USSA Racing Rules of Sailing for 2009-2012 except as specifically indicated in the Sailing Instructions.

Eligibility and Equipment: The races are open to boats meeting the requirements of the International Laser Class Association. Sailors must wear PFDs. The regatta is limited to 30 boats. Pre-registration is encouraged. Lasers not meeting the ILCA rules may petition the Race Organizers for permission to race, but will not be eligible for awards.

Classes

The race committee will decide whether to hold a single start for all lasers - full rig, radial, and 4.7 - or to consider additional starts for radial and 4.7 boats if race entries warrant.
There may be separate awards for Adults, Masters, Women, Radials and Under-18 depending on numbers of boats. All final decisions over racing classes will be made by the race committee and announced at the skippers meeting.

Venue and Courses

Races will be held at QYC, Linda Road in Wakefield, MA, on Lake Quannapowitt near the intersection of Route I-93 and I-95 (a.k.a. Rt. 128) north of Boston. For directions see www.sailqyc.com. Racing can be watched from the Club House. Phone number: 781-245-9518.
Courses will be posted on the Race Committee boat prior to each start. A mark list and chart will be posted at the sign-up desk and discussed at the Skipper’s meeting. The club uses fixed marks (white cans with #’s) and dropped orange balls with Letters.
