customs and duties

Have any of the Canadian TLF members ordered stuff from the States. Is there duty payable on Laser parts, sails or accessories such as hull/deck covers. What costs will I expect to incur besides shipping and the exchange rate. Can't justify C$700 for a new sail. Might try out one of the Intensity practice sails.

Hi,

Ship it to me in VT, then come race with us at Mallett's Bay Boat Club, North of Burlington, and pick it up then. Any Tuesday night, first gun at 6, and you can trailer or rooftop to within 50' of the beach. 5-6 races, with 15-20 boats :)

Ya I ran the number when I bought a new sail last week. Buy the time you pay for shipping, GST, duties and all that other good stuff. It's cheaper to buy here. I got a great deal on a North Sail from Dave at Pride Marine in Kingston. PM me and I'll give you there info if you want.
