Cam cleat for outhaul / cunnigham

So I was given a laser from a person at work and having to do the usual repair around the hull and deck.

Some of the hardware was missing like mainsheet block, autobailer, etc. The rigging for the outhaul and cunningham was also missing.

I do not want to spend $500 for the upgrades. I have seen some of the sites that allow increased purchases with simple addition of a block or two.

My questions is for the outhaul and cunningham, why would you not remove the orignal cam cleat / fairlead and offset it. Installing a second one mirror to it. This would give you the two controls down on the deck and would cost minimal for this.

Any thoughts or am I missing something?

Because the class rules do not permit this. It doesn't mean it wouldn't work.
