Hey guys, brand new here. Ive been in the market for a sailboat for a while. I think this might be the boat for me, I called the owner early this morning. My question is this: Is it at all allowed for me to weld the existing mast? I have a welder and some experience, but I don't know if this is a bad idea. There's a picture of the broken mast on the post. Thoughts? Any other advice?

If the answer is that I'm not allowed to weld it, does anyone know how much new mast would cost?

That's crazy. I bought a new mast via a Catalina dealer in ~2005 for around $5-600. A tree limb had bent the original from the boat that I inherited. I now store the mast in the garage over winter.
