I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised at how friendly and encouraging the fleet will be. Ask questions throughout the week. Observe and learn as much as you can. You will no-doubt come home a much better Laser sailer when the week is over. You will not get better if you never leave the cozy...
From the minutes of the August 11, 2009 ExecComm meeting posted on Laser.org
- 2010 schedule. Ted Cramer working on a venue for the ACCs in Long Island for 2010.
He (Ted Cremer) has hosted past events for the class at Sayville YC.
Looks like the entry cap was raised from 350 to 400...and allocations to North America raised from 35 to 131.

The 2007 North Carolina Laser Masters regatta took place June 23-24. Host Oriental Dinghy Club completed 9 races on the Pamlico Sound, just off the shores of the beautiful town of Oriental, NC.
A wonderful write-up with pictures is posted on the town website. Be sure to check it out...
Fred - here are some stories...
The day before the regatta started the beaches in Palm Beach were closed due to sightings of large schools of sharks. See CBS news report: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/31/earlyshow/main684288.shtml It brought back memories of the 1999 Midwinturds...
The pin isn't any shorter so you should be able to hang your spare key on the outside. Not ideal but you'll sleep better at night if you're really worried about busting the key.
The international class website changed the wording overnight. It now reads: "As of 19th December the Laser Masters World Championships has been narrowed to three possible venues within Europe. Site inspections have been completed with a decision to be confirmed before the new year."...
Don't pay any attention to the last post. Fred hasn't sailed the regatta in at least the last seven years.

Miami is awesome and worth trying at least once in your life.
Two purposes.
1. It is the first of three events to determine the five members of the 2007 US Sailing Team for Lasers. The other two events are Miami OCR and Midwinters East.
2. It gives the Olympic Trial organizers a chance to work out all the kinks before the real olympic trials event.
2 steps:
1. ease your boom vang
2. pull your centerboard up 1/2 way
You'll likely begin to drift backwards. If so, in order to bear away to fill your sail you will want to push the tiller away from you.
The Potomac River Sailing Association Laser fleet is hosting a two

Alexandria, VA. The Capital City Laser Regatta should be a great time!

If you are 35 or older and not going to the Worlds in Brazil, the next best thing to do (though I would argue it is THE BEST THING) is the US Masters National Championship hosted by Severn Sailing Association in Annapolis, Maryland September 30 - October 2.
