Hull #1258 1971??? 1972???
Older lasers: Last four digits of sail number may be missing or belong to an unknown code (e.g. ZFS 33426 0376 = march '76?). Boat manufacturing codes seem to conform to some industry norm - an Alden Ocean (rowing) shell hull number has a similar format.

Sailed my old boat on Waterton Lakes, North side of Glacier Park, in Alberta last week.. Wind a bit puffy that day. Too bad nobody took a picture when i was out sailing..
Yep, thanks, that's the plan.. While I'm at it, I'll through bolt everything, add cubitainers, remove the old water logged foam bags, etc... I'm hoping I can lighten it up some. Weight is in the 150 range right now..
Having too much fun last weekend on my 35 year old boat.. Finally, the Starboard fairlead pulled out of the deck. Time to start fixing things.. New Fairleads, New Cam Cleats, New lines, A couple new inspections ports, Mast and boom plugs, and sand off all the darn paint my brother put on the...
I love the laser hummmmm... my nine year old daughters got to feel it for the first time over the weekend in 20+ wind... Then, the fairlead on the starboard side popped out of the deck and the fun was over, for now..
Designed mine using many of the elements in the attached links.
I'm going for steel wheels with bearing as I want the taller and wider tires to get over some of the obstacles I encounter in some of the MT lakes we sail on.
Frame is made out of 1 inch Aluminum Tubing (used and saved from...
It's in our warehouse at work. Designed to weigh large capacity containers before being placed on aircraft. Overkill for my location, but somebody knew better than me that I'd need it for weighing the Laser someday..
thanks 49208, that's the single most relavant piece of information I've gotten yet.. In fact it is 14.5 inches deep from deck to bottom of the step, so it is pretty worn indeed if 14 is the original spec.
Also, I just got done reading a bunch of the old posts on mast steps and leaks.. Sorry...
No use worrying about drying it out for now.. I just put two Quarts of water down the mast step and watched it run right out into the hull in less than 10 seconds..
I doesn't flow out directly at the bottom, but about 1/4 inch up. I'm guessing the step is worn about where the mast plug...
thanks, I appreciate the tips.. I'm going to start blowing into it a few hours each night and see what happens.. Easy enough to get it off the trailer and reweigh..
I've attached a shot of the foam in torn bag located ahead of the blade box and behind the mast step.. Also a shot of the...
Boat Weight...
I got the boat off the trailer and onto the scale..
She weighs in at 154 pounds on a certified large capacity scale.. That's with only the ratchet block, hiking strap, a short bow line and the traveler...
How much would two paints jobs (hull only) weigh??? How much is the...
Per the Snipe Nationals Webpage..
No races are scheduled before noon on any day due to the variable conditions normal before lunch. That leaves three to four hours each morning to fill. The following options list a few of the activities that competitors and families can take...
AM races at Dillon are a disaster. the wind will shift so many times, you can do a whole course and not tack or jibe.. PM winds are more consistent with the Windward mark off the dam.. Good freinds are down there this week coming week for the Snipe Nationals.. I'm sure they will come back...
