Downwind with 23-25kts wind, the max speed measured by GPS: 13.4kts. But an average of 10.something. And 13.4 is REALLY fast... I do know that Michael Blackburn, while sailing 119 or so nautical miles across the Bass strait's downwind in big waves, hit 19.4 knots.

Well.. Tried to bent the mast back, but it didn't work. Now we have a S shaped mast :). So, we bought a new one. The guy who sells the mast said the bending a mast back is quite hard to do.

I've been sailing Laser just for a few years. Still I haven't got the chance to take a GPS with me, to afraid to loose it I think. Has anybody any idea how fast you can go? I know I can get up to 8 or 9 kts, after that it's going so fast I can't guess anymore :D.
