The 2 inch schedule 40 aluminim pipe is 2.375 diameter and works great . its a much better fit into the mast step and the goose neck still works. For about $50 I was able to put mast together using pvc for end caps. Thanks
I've "lost" the bottom cap... can you give some details on how you whipped up your caps from pvc ?

It can be if that's what you specify.Sorry to be so ignorant, but is this kind of pipe anodized?
According to the data, 6061 structural tubing is around 10% stronger. That's why a transport pipe needs to be so much thicker, it's a softer alloy.all at a price we will see how well the paint holds up. wonder how many times stronger the pipe mast will be? I might lose the 7.5 pounds if I start sailing more.
