Where to buy universal joint for tiller

Hi. I have an older laser with a wooden tiller and aluminum extension. The laser got flipped over by the wind while moored last week. When I went out to right it I didn't notice that the tiller wasn't there. It was an off-shore wind so I'm not optimistic about finding it. I'd like to try making my own tiller and extension out of ash but I don't know where to get the universal joint. Any links would be appreciated. TIA. Richard

My tiller is 96 cm long, and my extension is 120 cm including fittings.

There are no rules about tiller/extension lengths. The tiller has evolved to extend no farther than the forward edge of the aft deck (rounding excluded). I believe most top sailors use a 130 cm extension, which is the longest that you can tack comfortably. Like myself, you may find a slightly shorter stick less clumsy.
