New vang/Bending the boom

There has been a lot of talk about how the new vang can bend/break the top sections. Has anyone noticed the booms getting bent as well?
 
I haven't checked for a permanent bend in my boom (if there is one, it's not really noticable when it's lying on the deck), but it sure does bend a lot while I'm sailing. Somewhere I remember one of the Vanguard folks (Dave Kirkpatrick?) saying that if you can see daylight between the sail and boom when you're sailing that you might want to think about easing the vang...

I'll bet a boom without the sleeve would bust in a second, though...

ages ago i snapped a boom with my vang in 4.7 abd seen people snap there top section this usually happens to the boom and the top section because you have heaps of tension and you go over a wave and suddenly slam the right or if you jolt the right with alot of vang tension
