Mainsheet Block Shackle

Hello,

I want to add a mainsheet block to my deck. I just have the old hook thing to secure the mainsheet.

I have the block itself, an eyestrap to secure it to the deck but I don't have anything to connect the two together. I found a photo online of this swivel type shackle which is what I think I need. Does anyone what this type of shackle is called and where I can buy one? Again, I already have the block itself.

I would not use that as you will have the full pull of the sail which gets tiring. I would go with a rachet. Itt allows you to pull in easily but subs the sheet when you let out.
There are different types some are auto some manual. The group will have their favorites. If you are out big wind the rachet is the way to go. Sunfish, Ratchet Block (2-1/4), 91333

Can you post a photo of the items you have, rather than something off a website. Will help hone in the assistance.

These are the part numbers I use.
And I agree with Charles - get a ratchet block. I prefer the Harken 2135.

These are the parts I have which were given to me and I'm not interested in buying a ratchet block.i need a way to connect the block to the eyestrap.

The Seaway block already has a swivel post. Now all you need is any normal D-shaped shackle (with a pin that isn’t too thick for the hole in that post) to connect it to the eyestrap. The swiveling is not a feature of the shackle but the block (in this case, as in most others).

As Lali pointed out, it's called a D shackle. Harken has good examples. You are going to want a "Stamped Shackle". I would say either in 5 or 6 millimeter.

The 5 mm and 6 mm is the diameter of the pin. 5 mm is about 3/16" and 6 mm is about 1/4". So, take a drill bit set and try the fit of your 3/16" and 1/4" bits through the hole in your block swivel post. You'll find which one fits the best. Also, make sure the length of the pin is enough for your needs.

BTW, there are a lot of other sources besides Harken for stamped D shackles.
