Light Wind Main Sheet

Define light wind.

I'm really happy with my 7mm Rooster line for all-around use.

If I was sure the wind was going to stay under 7 knots for the duration of the day's sailing, I might consider using Yale Conception, Marlow Marstron or Samson LiteSpeed 1/4" diameter or Rooster's 5.5mm line (just under 1/4") - Conception has the best feel, Marston is the cheapest, Litespeed is the lightest and most expensive......

48' is the length of my mainsheet - I tie the tail to the my hiking strap adjustment line.

I sail out of etobicoke's Humber Bay.. (a mile er 2 west of toronto) and its known for light- no wind. im talking max 5 knots. so, im willing to spend a little more on something that il use alot alot. so, basicly, 0-5/6 knots.
thanks

I use Marlow Marstrom 6mm, it is cheap, light & floats, however in light winds I think it is most important that the rope is fairly new, as once it is fluffed up from chafing it doesn't roll through the blocks so smoothly, and the boom doesn't go out as easily down wind. Maybe more expensive ropes don't chafe as much?
