Hull ID Location

I purchased my 14.2 in '03 out of state (MA)... I'm trying to get my boat registered in CT, so that I can put a motor on it. The DMV application requires the HULL #. The Catalina // Yachts tag states "HULL #5001" I'm told by the DMV that the number is not valid... There's a multi-digit number on the hull. Does anyone know where I can read this number?? I've looked but to no avail.

location of hull ID

The hull ID is a 12-digit alphanumeric. It is not on the builder's plate. I asked Catalina for mine (and they were good enough to provide it to me) but also "found" it etched into the fiberglass on the transom on the starboard side just underneath the gunwale.

Hull I.D. Number

I had the same issue with my insurance company, but they accepted the four didgit number after they scoured the boat looking for the alpha-numeric number with no success. I accidently found it etched on the transom while washing the boat. Odd that Catalina would do that, but I suppose they have their reasons.
