I can't imagine not having a tamer of some sort anymore. I single-hand 99% of the time and even during routine tacking it's much easier with a tamer. I rarely lock it down tight, but always have enough tension on it to hold a pretty steady course if I need to let go of the helm momentarily.

Pretty hard to set up a jib halyard wrong on one of these boats. up the mast to the jib block and back down again. mine is one piece, 31' of 5/16" double braid. I wouldn't mind if it was a foot longer, but 31' is what they call for on my model 1 (#53) also .

I'm not. my 14.2 is the std version. but would it be any different than installing a float on the aluminum mast? the DIY one I made looks like it would work well, and you wouldn't have to worry about the football style float being pointed straight into the wind if furled. ;)

Although I find that with AGM batteries it's best to use a charger designed to charge AGM type batteries. they do last a lot longer, and worth it in the long run IMHO. batteries ain't cheep anymore :eek: Russ
