I have a 5x8 utility trailer I sometimes use for hauling kayaks. I simply clamp two 2x4's across the side rails. The 2x4's are covered in "roll bar foam" which is similar to pool noodles but are much thicker and tougher. The boats settle in and form the foam to their hull shapes. This would work...
Good stories! I'm not surprised at all. We're avid kayakers and it's painful to watch my towed kayak go faster behind the 'fish' than anyone could humanly paddle the thing, and I paid a lot of buks for a fast yak. It's way safer than trying to haul passengers on the Sunfish too. Sunfish...
Harbor Frieght sells a perfect size boat trailer for a Sunfish.

You can modify it however you want. They also sell a small utility trailer that would work too. A Sunfish is only 130 lbs. so not...
Any reason you can't drill out all rivets and rig the thing like a normal Sunfish? Squirt a shot of foam (not much!) in the holes, or tape. Then you can position the sail any way you want.
Ha! She tried several times to get me to had over my iphone for picures but I wouldn't go for it. What was funny was when we would take off on plane....."wheeeeeeeeeeeee! I like this!!" These little Sunfish sails have a ton of reserve power. I'm amazed how the kayak really isn't causing...
I can't be the first person to try this but twice now, I've attached a kayak tow harness to my wife's kayak's front toggle, the other end of the harness hooked to a spare bridle (i have both the old and new bridles on my Sunfish) and towed her all over the lake, way faster than she can paddle...
My bailer is original but the little valve ball spends most of it's time in the down (open) position, with no waterspout issues. Maybe a pint of water gets in. When I removed the bailer to clean and reseal, I noticed a real hull leaker potential where the cockpit floor and hull come together at...
I'm new here but noticed in both Lasers and Sunfish, the 'slop' in the mast step will give you about 2" of rake play at the mast top. An 1/8th inch of slop will give you that and can be shimmed if it bothers you. As beldar said, on a Sunfish, it shouldn't matter since you have gooseneck and...
