    sunfish mast hole

    I'm a little new to sailing and I just bought a 1992 sunfish I see at the bottom of the mast hole it looks like a lip down there not a flat bottom is this the way they are built or is the bottom busted? will the mast on a sunfish turn with the sail? any advice would be greatly appreciated
