I am pretty sure that it is tree sap. Goo Gone and acetone are OK to use on the gel coat?

I bought a used boat that had a bunch of hardened tree sap on the deck. I have tried to remove it with deck wash and Simple Green. Neither really did the trick. Any suggestions of products that will take this stuff off without harming the gel coat?

I just bought a used boat that has an auto bailer. The bailer opens when the bung is pulled but does not close when the bung is pushed back in. It will manually close if I push it from the hull side though but that is hard to do while sailing (ha ha). I am assuming that it should close back...
