I'm trying to install a quick release lever on the gooseneck. The problem I'm having is that the screw on the QRL has to screw in to the gooseneck and that kind of limits the travel of it. And it doesn't seem to go in all the way. Do I screw it in all the way until it's past the threads? I guess...

I was given a Sunfish, circa 1966, by a friend. Much of the deck hardware was broken and when I took it off, the screws broke inside. My question is: Do I need to drill those holes out and put the new screws in their place (a lot of work) or can I drill new holes right next to the old ones and...
