Thanks! I did not have anouther gooseneck to look at closely (they are all moored on the water) but it is clear from your photo that it would be a far more difficult repair than I could attempt and the result would be suspect. Time to buy one!

Some of my Scouts managed to break the screw/bolt that holds the two halves (mast ring & boom clamp ring) of a bronze gooseneck together. Any idea if I can drill out the remainder and get a new bolt to reconnect them?

OK. I just looked at the damaged boat. It appears that the boat was rammed with some force either by a canoe at Mach 1 or anouther Sunfish. The trim is intact but somewhat distorted in a 6 inch section. Underneath that section is quite a bit of broken/shattered fiberglass.

Our Scout camp stores them that way. A few caveats. Make sure that there is sufficient foam BETWEEN the boats so that the hull of one isn't pressing on the splashguard of the one below it. I've seen boats slip and crack the splashguard of the one below it or get gouged by jam-cleat. If possible...
