    That is a big reason why the boat was free! He figured it was rotten and needed to be replaced. With the wisdom found here, that 42 yr old sail has fewer issues than my 41yr old body! Everything was stored in a garage though.

    Yes, it is used with a block. Instead of attaching the sheet in the rear, the sheet is all up front. I assume from the tackle it should be easier/lighter to pull. I also assume this is for what was called a "race rig" and I hope someone might correct me if I am wrong.
