I just contacted a dealer about getting a new laser and the quote was the same retail price as listed on vangaurds site $4890. I'm in northern cal. and there aren't many dealers. Also not many used boats. Is that the going rate elswhere? should I look for another dealer?
thanks

Yep, that's the way monopoly pricing power works.

If you wait a little bit, it's likely that Vanguard will throw in substantial goodies with a new boat (like a dolly, cover or wetsuit). In past years, this campaign would start in Sep and run until the end of Dec.

I've heard that Vanguard gives a 10% to 20% discount at the Annapolis boat show. If you can get there, that might be an option.

Cheers
Mark

$4890 is the list, and no one can advertise below list.

Free Gear starts September first, so that will save you $400 or so. (Free Dolly, Magic Marine Gear, or Covers)

Also, you can buy from a no sales tax state (RI, OR etc) and save another $400 or so.

thanks for the tips. I probably will wait for sept. I was thinking about Oregon. But it would probably cost me $400 for the trip. :) at todays gas prices.
thanks again
ziggy.

I work at the Vanguard dealer in South Carolina. We very rarely sell a laser for the full list price. Keep looking around or wait until the free gear program starts.
