Anyone know why these were produced?

I don't know for certain, but I think they were sold by PSE around 1996 - possibly as part of an Olympic promotion. The majority of boats I have seen them on are around 160000, which ties in with this.

I never saw them advertised separately unfortunately, otherwise I would have bought one.....although I have since acquired one second hand.
