Where to get some good practice?

I am looking for good places to haul my Sunfish and Laser for warmer water sailing along the east coast. Someplace that has good access (not member only YC's) reasonable accommodations, and friendly ambiance. Suggestions and recommendations, anyone?

There are lots of places along the coast, Long Island Sound is pretty nice around now, what part of NY are you from? are you looking to race or just get some nice time on the water?
