i am sailing a 4.7 on the south coast of england. Most of my sailing friends are geting a radial for christmas and i wounded would i be heavy enough for one i am 5'9 and way 60 kg . will i be heavy enough
I think 60 is about perfect for the radial! You might struggle when it blows, but with the XD kit (or the GXD) depowering is so easy you should be able to manage. Apart from weight, technique counts for a lot, as a 75kg guy sailing a radial badly will still get beaten, even in the big stuff, by a 60kg guy that knows what he's doing.
Do some of the GP's and see what weight the radial sailors are in your area, but I know there are guys around here (bristol) sailing radial at that weight, although some switch back to the 4.7 on windy days.
If you want one cheaply, rooster does the full replica kit (bottom section and radial sail) for £265, so if its only for winter club stuff that could be a good option. then buy a proper one as summer approaches.
