Weight jacket

Is it legal to wear some kind of weight jacket while racing? I know in the past you could but I have been out of racing for many years.

Fairly certain it is not allowed, including the wearing of wet sweatshirts for that express purpose.

no, i dont believe this part of the rule book was changed for 2005 but the 01-04 read
43.1 (a) Competitors shall not wear or carry clothing or equipment for the purpose of increasing thier weight.

Racing Rules 2005-2008 also prohibit wearing or carrying clothing or equipment for the purpose of increasing weight. And this is a good thing. A lot of people got serious back injuries from wearing weight jackets without the proper conditioning.
