Rule 24 - TAPE AND LINE

Proposed rule change: Modify Rule 24 by adding the words shown in RED text below.

Current wording:
“24. TAPE AND LINE
The use of flexible adhesive tape or similar, line is permitted to secure shackle pins and clips, and to bind sheets, control lines and rigging, except that tape or line shall not be used to construct new fittings or modify the function of existing fittings.”

Proposed wording:
“24. TAPE AND LINE
The use of flexible adhesive tape or similar, line or heat shrink tube is permitted to secure shackle pins and clips, and to bind sheets, control lines and rigging, except that tape or line shall not be used to construct new fittings or modify the function of existing fittings.”

Benefit: Clarification.


Rule 3(d)x - VANG

Proposed rule change:
Delete the photos in current Rule 3(d)x. [*Photos to be deleted are shown below
Add additional wording shown in RED text below.
Add additional wording shown in BLUE text below.

Current wording:
3 (d) x. “Builder supplied” Vang cleating fitting
a) the vang cleat block may be replaced with a “builder supplied” vang cleating fitting which incorporates “turning points” and a cam cleat.

Benefit:

a As additional approved vangs are approved, they may be introduced by the builders and class without delay. There is adequate room for graphics, supplier and part specification details on the web site.

b Clarification to make it clear that parts that wear may be replaced.

Item two: smart move that should have been made 21 years ago. Now it remains to be defined in practice what "equivalent function" of replacement parts means...
