Video: Norcalsail & Andy Explore The Russian River

With the river mouth closed off by the smaller summertime waves, the Russian River was super full... providing very nice sailing conditions. So Norcalsail & Andy took advantage of a short pause in the strong northwest coastal winds to do the Jenner to Duncan's Mills bridge out and back trip.

Sailing up the Russian River is something I've wanted to do for a few months. Andy and I finally made it there on the last day of July and it was quite a beautiful day. As he stated, the water was really warm especially when compared to Tomales Bay and you can land and hang out on a beach, swim and picnic. People are not expecting sailboats on the river and often react with a bit of surprise so it has some novelty. This was my first time on the river and my first time sailing with another Sunfish!

Well done! I really enjoyed the video. Your sailing experience is much different from my sailing in a fresh water lake in Texas.

Sailing this river is unique. We had the wind behind us on the way up. We had to tack and jibe on the way back. Very fun and very interesting sailing. Tough on the way back but now that I've done it I am ready to go again.
