Looking for any of your favorite ways or tips to avoid those crescent scratches in stern deck from back & forth motion of tiller held too low--thanks in advance! Fun Fish

Some things to try ... You can find plastic nut covers at hardware stores; a little duct tape might suffice; check your rudder/tiller adjustment; learn to hold the tiller up ... mine will drag if I lean hard enough on it so I just don't lean on it.

Implicit in Wayne's recommendation is that you can tape (or glue) a 'slice' of plastic on top of the cheek(s) that hold the blade. This will raise the tiller just a tad and has worked for me.

Thanks for the tips! I'll work on "band aid" solutions til I can correct the operator error of leaning on/holding down the tiller!

I use the stick-on pads that typically protect hardwood floors from furniture. Placing one on the right part of the tiller handle does wonders!
