Tiller extension

Hey, I was looking for a new Ronstan tiller extension and was wondering about the best length I saw a 33” but that seems long. Thoughts?

Racers like them long so they can hike way out and move freely fore and aft while steering with the extension. Day sailers can get by with a shorter extension. To each his own.

I think the 33 will be fine. I think my Flying Scot has 48.

What Alan said, Racers compared to Recreational Sailers/Small kids. Our friend Emiliano put a Ronstan battlestick 33" on his boat and says it is perfect as he likes to hike.

Agreed; 33-35" is a happy medium length for most.

I got the Ronstan 33" from Intensity Sail and it's the perfect length. I'm very happy with it.

I like a longish extension because you can use it to easily flick the sheet off the corner of the transom when it gets stuck after a bad tack.

I had a Hobie 16 and I think the extension was around 6 feet
