Years ago when my son was small, I raced on assorted big boats. On Schocks and J boats, the team that wins has nothing to do with the sailor. It's just doing your job. Tomorrow I will pick up a 14.2, a Mod 1 at that, and see what sailing is really all about. Now slightly over 50 years and 50 pounds more than what I should be, I will be the rookie on the field. What goes wrong will ultimately be all my fault and I almost pity you folks that will have to deal with me when I'm out there. I want to take this time to say thank you for letting me into your terriffic association. I will be as forgiving to the next rookie as I pray you will be to me.
