For sale: 1988 Sunfish sailboat. With trailer $950; without trailer $800.
This Sunfish was used a little and then stored on a rack in a garage for about 20 years until it was donated last week to the Ephraim Yacht Club. Now the EYC is selling it to raise funds. Priced to move quickly.
It's only had a single owner until last week! The boat is generally in very nice condition. The only things which keep me from calling it "like new" are a little wear at the bottom tip of the daggerboard, the fact that the sail has been used a few times and then rolled up, and a few chips in the gelcoat. The gelcoat chips are minor and are along the bottom edge of the gunwales, except there is some more substantial chipping at the bow (see photo). None of these chips are structural and all could be repaired with MarineTex or a gelcoat repair kit. The varnish on the daggerboard and rudder is in good shape (except for the worn tip on the daggerboard).
This boat could be used as a daysailer / recreational boat or (if the buyer upgrades the sail and daggerboard) could be a racing boat.
The trailer is a Highlander. It's scruffy looking but functional. The buyer will want to replace the lights and wiring ($35 kit at Walmart). Tires look OK, with no cracking, and hold air. You can purchase the Sunfish with or without the trailer.
Located in Bailey's Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin. If you are interested please phone (414) 322-7880 or email [email protected] Jay Lott
