I have a sunfish daggerboard I would like to talk as I have just upgraded to a new one. This one has been used and had dings, scratched and areas that have been repaired. Please look at pictures. Price drop to $100 14992781285671562423962.jpg 14992782703981100797536.jpg 14992783860101205906787.jpg 14992785340981693430008.jpg 1499278637158456364265.jpg

Actually looking at the tip in one of the pictures, it looks like the composite boards....seeing the yellow-ish foam core. I don't know the details, but I think the newer ones without the "handhold" are FRP or fiberglass.

I will take a look at it tomorrow, I never felt any foam on it, as it is all solid. Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the types of daggerboard. It was made by vanguard for my boat, which is a 2007, came with the boat.

After researching that's what I came up with too. I think many prefer but I'd need the durability. Unless I can find a used one (any condition) I'll probably just get the itensity board. I would buy a composite really cheap but much prefer the frp.
Thx jleonard99

Thx leonard99. Like I said I think your composite board is desired over the fiberglass for racing (just from reading) but I need the extra durability. Good luck with selling

Sailcraftri.....do you know why the switch from composite to ftp?
Do you have both and opinions...or a used frp for sale? Or just get the intensity if not racing?
Love the tiller btw!

The composite boards are good. They did have the issue over time the steel rods inside would rust and show thru the surface of the board. At times nick named the coat hanger board. The fiberglass boards are stiffer. LP did go thru a lot of issues when they started building them here in RI. They were built in China and most likely are now as are the hulls. I have several fiberglass boards that need need some work. I could sell as is or get a fiberglass person to repair, then sell. I have one new daggerboard ready to go that is fiberglass.

The story about the switch from the foam boards to alternates (according to internet 'chatter'):
The contract maker of the foam boards didn't want to continue manufacturing them for LP.
