Good morning!!
Does anyone here know a Audi special edition?

The number is 16**** the gel is gray (all the boat in gray color) and it has a Audi decal that looks original …. I found this boat and I’m trying to buy it …

Doing my usual thing and looking at the usual for sale boards I have noticed quite a few 'special addition' Lasers about. the Black Magic, Race '99, Ben Ainsle, Graffiti how many different special addition Lasers are there and are there specific sail number bands which they cover, are they different by Region?

All ”special editions” are legal.

What is the hull/sail number of that boat? The one ”Accent” I remember (same colours!) was a 143xxx, which means it was built in 1991.

It appears PFS has been making new vinyl wraps to some of their boats

Would having a wrap be legal for racing, no matter what the graphic or who produced the wrap? Seems like a significant advantage do to the frictionless properties. For that matter, does any sailboat racing sanctioning body (J's, 470, C-14, etc) have a rule against using a vinyl wrap? I also wonder how the vinyl would hold up with a boat that sits in the water all season or longer?

That’s actually PSA  and that is a one-off birthday present for one of their team sailors.

PSA in general seems to be the only builder that does colours presently. They have recently offered a choice of six different topside colours, as well as a 100 % greyish-blue boat. (And even their basic white has a purple tinge.)

Good question. I’ve been thinking about this lately now that all other builders seem to compete who makes the whitest boats...

The class rules don’t say anything about decoration, so that could be (rather nonsensically) interpreted to outlaw even the slightest markings, such as a club membership sticker or a boat name. Or do they count as ”advertising”?

Some common-sense solutions would be 1) if it’s above the waterline it’s legal (doesn’t apply here though) and 2) if it’s builder-provided it’s legal (check :)).

I am not aware of anyone specifically prohibiting this. The 470 had a class rule that said the bottom had to be white, but looks like that was dropped a few years ago.

Ah My mistake. I saw they also stripe some of their boats, like used to be done.
Do they make custom wraps too besides the one off? That would be grand.

Is this one a real special addition?

I was a Laser dealer in the early 90's and that was called the Stealth model from SLI. Not very stealthy in the sunlight the way it sparkled. We used to joke you could blind your competitors for tactical advantage. We named it the 'bassboat'.
