Small pits on daggerboard

I just noticed that my DB has small pin head sized pits on both sides of the board. Does anyone know what could be causing this and what can be done to fix the problem?
 
Which version of daggerboard, FRP (Plastic) or wood?

Pits in the white paint of the FPR or varnish of the wood one?
