Fort Lauderdale, FloridaFebruary 2, 2007We had our share of starting drills today. The race committee for the Lauderdale Yacht Club started five races and finished three at the Laser Radial Women’s North American Championships off Fort Lauderdale. I began the day in fourth place and finished it in fourth place after we completed three races in extremely shifty conditions with winds that varied from six to 18 knots at different times of the day. The other two races were abandoned after the wind temporarily died. The first race started out really windy and I had a good beat, rounding the weather mark in sixth but then the breeze dropped off and got all puffy. I held on to finish sixth. The next race was abandoned when I was in second place.
