Scorpion Sailboat

Just acquired a Scorpion Sailboat. I am completely new to sailing. All the hardware appears original and in good condition except the hull has minor damage that needs repair. I need to register the boat and I am sure they will ask the date of manufacture. I have the serial number 55996. Any advice on best repair techniques? Any idea how to decipher the serial number with relation to mfg date?
Thanks
Mike

Attaching that rudder gudgeon without adding a port might be an issue. Does it have the brass side drain plug, often missing?

Thanks for responding.
No it does not have one or if it ever did then someone may have removed it and patched it up.
From what I understand there is a backing plate? The gudgeon is still held on by one bolt. I was hoping I could reattach but I haven’t inspected that closely yet.

Hopefully that plate is there and you can reattach without issue. I had a Scorpion. They are great! Your keel looks like the biggest job. Do a leak test to find other areas that need attention. I had to remove the trim and reseal the seam in several spots on my boat.
