It depends on your sailing skills, winds that you will be sailing in, and how quickly you expect to grow into the lower weight for a Radial, which is 120 lbs.

what merrily says .. but also what classes are available at your club ... if you are the only 4.7 then i'd go radial ... your weight does not seem to be far off

yah I was over powered so I reefed it at naples I bought the boat like a month ago and have a radial in preety good shape but no mast. I just started lasering after doing good in eustis. I plan on getting a 4.7 or radial set up but not sure which. Do you know who might be selling one of the rigs.

You're almost big enough for a Radial now, and you're only going to grow. Get the Radial.

I guess I don't much understand the concept of the 4.7. Granted I've never sailed one. However the rig looks way too small for the hull, and the age window for most kids seems to be about a year or two.

i agree Radial is the way to go.

also ... you can depower a radial ....

but you can't "power-up" a 4.7

Thanks i'll probably get a radial because there are usually more races for it.

Im pretty sure Andy at Tackle shack will have a radial bottom, and if you go to teamvanguard.com im pretty shure youll find what you need
