Sailfish Bow Handle Joy!

Mama H Chicago

Mother of sailboats
After tearing apart many many boxes post moving twice in 6 months, I finally found RRD’s original bow handle. I’m not sure if it was me, or perhaps a drag across concrete that put a nasty gouge in the aluminum.

After two days, a lot of products, multitudes of high number sandpaper. two very sore and abraded hands, look at how it gleams!!

I think the gouge gives it character. Shout out to Alan Glos who put that thought in my head!

Patina. It looks great, tell us about the process.

And did your boat also have the quarter round bow/keel strip? It starts right below the bow handle tab and runs about 16 inches aft on the keel.

You could have a welder build up the lost material, pretty easy.

Not as bad as this drag on pavement.
