Sail Slides and Grommets

I want to put sail slides on the main. To do this I need to add five grommets.

Does anyone have any experience with this project? Do I need to add extra support around the grommets?

The "bullets" or "slides" as you call them are sewn to the bolt rope of the sail. Why do you want to add "slides" and gromets to your main? Typically I take sail mods and repairs to a sail loft as I don't have the knowledge to do it right myself.
