I own hulll number 4834 l have no other numbers none on the transom. Boat built in Montreal QC in the early 70s. Trying to confirm my sail number. I have none also pn the current sail

Sail number = hull number on the earliest Canadian-built boats (and European boats until 1983). You must have looked under the bow eye already, or how else do you know it's 4834?

That's your sail number as well. It's probably a late 1972 boat but maybe not sailed before '73.

Because there are only four digits, the numbers on the sail should be the same "dark, distinctive colour or black". Although if the sail is as old as the hull (does it have the Elvström crown logo at the tack?) then it doesn't matter - I think the sails up to 1982 or so had all red numbers.
