Sail number

Thinking of eventually racing with the local club in their "open" class. What do I use for a sail number? Is there any regulation on placement, letter size, font?

For one design boats like the 14.2, your sail number is usually your hull number. On the starboard stern is your HIN (Hull Identification Number). It has your hull number and year of manufacture included in it. The factory sails should also have the number on them, and would provide the size. Numbers are generally some sort of block style font which is easy to read. Colors are also generally chosen to be easy to read (you don't want the RC getting your ID wrong ...). Black is most common but so are blue, red, and sometimes green.

A sailmaker can add the numbers or provide them for you to install.
