Rub Rail

I am going to be working on my 1971 fish this summer and one of the many projects I am hoping to replace the rub rail. Should I go with the aluminum trim? or what are other (maybe cheaper) options.

The vinyl rubrail that came with my Porpoise II has shrunk, and tends to fall off when "rubbed".

Does anyone know how the chrome colored press on adhesive trim that they sell at auto stores would work? I'm talking about the stuff people put around the car door edges and wheel wells. Might not work and look funny, but I'm not sure, just thinking of ideas.

Something like this stuff: http://www.brandsport.com/trmg-2105-c.html

Aluminum trim, easy to rivet on and it protects the seam. Yankee Boating Center sells it and the right rivets http://www.sunfishsailboats.com/hull.php
or a member here may have salvaged trim. It can be cut into more manageable sections to ship. Alan sent me a nice package last year and the parts went onto "Ray" of Hope
