Hello Laser, Laser Radial Masters and Friends:

for the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) Midwinters Regatta this weekend February 16-17 where Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach CA is hosting Laser Masters.

Masters Handicap scoring will be used and rig-swapping (full-rig to Radial & vice versa) will be allowed. This weekend will be a good tune-up for the Manning Regatta March 2-3 at ABYC and Laser Midwinters West March 22-24, at California YC. So all you 35 and older Lady and Gentleman Laser and Radial racers, sign up to race today!

On a very sad note; to mark the passing of long time ABYC member, 505, Finn and Laser racer, Jim Kirk, there will be a gathering in Jim's honor this Sunday afternoon.
Jim's wife Ellen would like to invite us for a brief gathering in honor of Jim on Sunday, February 17, at 4:30 pm. Rain or shine, the gathering will be held in the Colorado Lagoon Park at the corner of E. 6th St. and Monrovia in Long Beach a spot that held special meaning for Jim.
Jim's interests, talents, and friendships were so varied. Rather than have a traditional memorial service with speakers, the family would like to give everyone this opportunity to meet, mingle, and share their stories and memories of Jim with one another.
Please note that there are no facilities nor will seating be available at the park.
Ellen wanted us to know Jim received outstanding care and support from everyone at City of Hope throughout the course of his illness. Should you wish to make a donation to them in Jim's name, the family would be honored. Donations may be made at www.COH.org or 1-866-683-HOPE.
