Recently inherited a super sailfish

Hello, new to the forum here. I recently inherited a Alcort super sailfish. I’ve owned a sunfish since I was young and am excited to add another boat to the fleet. From the limited research I have done I’ve found it’s a super sailfish due to the over 13’ length. It’s all wood construction which leads me to believe it’s 1950’s. I couldn’t find a serial number on the rudder mount. It came with the original rudder and dagger board. Aluminum mast and spars with all the pulleys and plastic mounting nuts intact. I will need to source a sail and rope for rigging. If I appear to be missing any other critical parts please let me know. I see plenty of sunfish sails for sale but haven’t seen anything specific to the sailfish. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve attached some pictures I shot this evening of it.

Hi Good Looking OG SailFish! Sailfish and sunfish use the same sails. so any sunfish sail will fit the spars, it looks like you will also need sail clips or ties Both do the job well. But also all the ropes for Rigging as you mentioned, so mainsheet, Halyard, and outhauls, some people also like the shock cord for the dagger board.

Here is a link to a full kit that has a pretty good price on them!

I got my "new to me" sail off this sight actually, i posted a wanted add for the color combo. but there are a lot of places that will make you new ones with any logo on them you want if you want the sailfish logo on it. Good Luck!

Thanks for the information! This is good to know that the sailfish and sunfish sails and rigging are interchangeable. That opens up a world of options! I’m a function over fashion guy so color doesn’t matter much. I’ll probably put up a want ad here as well. It’s always good to do gain some knowledge before diving head first into things like this.

She's a nice looking boat. The original rudder pin is not show, it is the pin that holds the vertical hinge plate to the horizontal hinge plate. Your photo shows a bolt and nut.

The original daagerboard is barely sufficient. She'll sail better with a spoon tip daggerboard or a Barrington board or the newset daggerboard, especially if you get a new sail with the better cut and performance.

Is there a number stamped on the side of the rudder assembly's horizontal hinge plate?
